What is the story behind the founding of Powersoft, and how did it evolve into a market leader in fashion retail?

We started over 30 years ago (32 to be exact) with the goal of providing solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. From the beginning, we saw that retail, especially in fashion, needed specialized tools. We slowly but steadily built a name associated with reliability and innovation, and today, Powersoft is a reference point for fashion retail in Cyprus — and is dynamically expanding abroad.

What is your philosophy as a Software Innovation Architect, and how does it influence your team and products?

I believe in “fail fast – learn faster.” I want my team to try things, to innovate, and not to be afraid. My philosophy is to design products that genuinely solve problems, not just sell features. This mindset is reflected in every line of code we write.

The phrase “it can’t be done” doesn’t exist in our vocabulary, and it is forbidden in our company.

What is Powersoft’s most significant achievement to date?

Reaching a point where we have product families like Powersoft365 ERP, becoming a reference point while continuing to grow without losing our startup spirit. Personally, I am proud to see businesses being built and sustained for decades using our tools.

How do you see artificial intelligence changing the way retail operates in the coming years?

AI will become the personal assistant of every entrepreneur. From purchase forecasting to personalized customer experiences, it will be the “brain” behind every decision. Those who embrace it early will win the game – the rest will simply fall behind or close down. This is not just rhetoric. It may sound harsh or philosophical, but it is reality because of the immense speed at which things are evolving.

What are the biggest challenges for businesses transitioning to cloud and digital solutions?

Cultural change. The technology exists; the willingness sometimes doesn’t. Many are afraid of change, especially in family businesses. That’s where we come in – not just as technicians but also as change advisors and, sometimes, as mediators.

Do you believe that blockchain technology has the potential to change the landscape of retail?

Absolutely. Liramou, which we will announce soon, is not just another crypto. It is loyalty with value. It provides customers and stores with a common space of trust, without intermediaries. I believe it will pave the way for a new rewards model.

Tell us about your vision regarding software development (API-FIRST that reinvents itself using AI).

My dream is a system that “rewrites” itself every year. With an API-First approach and AI self-improvement, our systems will adapt, train, and evolve on their own, based on how users utilize them.

How are you preparing Powersoft and your customers for the “2030s”?

We are already working on what comes next. We integrate AI everywhere and invest in R&D to offer them not just software, but an ever-evolving tool.

What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs who want to invest in innovation?

Start with a burning problem. Don’t fall in love with technology – fall in love with the solution. And find people smarter than you to build your team.

You recently announced that you won a grant for Data Analytics and AI from IDEK – tell us a few words about this project.

This is a project that will transform decision-making in businesses. We are creating a BI tool that “looks ahead,” predicts, suggests, and self-improves. It is the ideal partner for any modern entrepreneur.

I would like to publicly thank Mr. Theodoros Loukaides’ team (Director of IDEK), who encouraged us to apply for the grant – something that, to be honest, you don’t often encounter in government organizations.

What is your motto in life, and how do you apply it in your career?

“Collection of memories.”

We don’t just work for money. We work to live experiences, to write stories. And at Powersoft, this is clear – we want to create value and moments that last.

What excites you the most as a mentor or judge in innovation competitions?

Passion. When I see eyes shining, ideas being born live, and people who believe in themselves. Each time it’s like getting an injection of inspiration myself.

What is the next big step for Powersoft?

Our goal now is international expansion – and here we would like the support of the state, perhaps through more organized extroversion. Globalization is the next big step. With our new project, ApparelBridge, we plan to seriously cross borders. And of course, we continue to invest in AI and strategic partnerships with foreign software companies.”
